Cottage Autism Network After Schools

6 week term at CAN’s Bricks 4 Kidz after school programme in our Creativity Centre in Wexford Town!

Cottage Autism Network After Schools

Bricks 4 Kidz are delighted to welcome the Cottage Autism Network (CAN) to our Creativity Centre for a 6 week term STEM After School Programme. This After School Programme will take place on Tuesdays commencing the 18th of September from 5pm-6pm. This is open to members and non-members of the Cottage Autism Network.

The Cottage Autism Network aims to improve the quality of life of families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder by providing support, promoting equality and inclusion as well as raising awareness in the community by being a voice for their members. Membership is open to families who have a family member impacted by ASD (ie. parent/guardian/adult sibling) or an individual diagnosed with ASD aged over 18yrs. Activities are primarily organised in the areas of Wexford town and New Ross, however those living outside these areas are very welcome to become a member also.

You can contact CAN @ (087) 1035355 or email CAN [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to become a member.

Bricks 4 Kidz After School Programmes all follow the same ethos of We Learn, We Build, We Play. We Learn – by beginning with a presentation. The presentation introduces the children to the LEGO® Technic build and offers an opportunity to introduce new vocabulary relating to STEM subjects. We Build – The children build their LEGO® Technic build. Using their own individual LEGO® Technic kits children will analyse the instructions, sort and classify the correct LEGO® pieces for each step. Our LEGO® Tutors offer support and ask open ended questions throughout the build to extend the learning through investigation and creating a richer learning experience. We Play – Children will evaluate and explore their own creativity through a structured play time. With the support of the LEGO® Tutors children are encouraged to adapt their LEGO® builds and through simple investigations draw conclusions on the effects of their changes with reference to the STEM concepts explored throughout the workshop.

The cost of this workshop is €5 for members and €7 for non-members.
