Parent and Toddler Classes
During our Legotastic parent and toddler classes, babies and toddlers will be introduced to colours, numbers and letters using DUPLO® through a variety of sensory experiences, structured and unstructured fun play. We incorporate our sensory experiences using sand, bubbles and lots more. Fun and songs along the way. Develop your child’s fine motor and social skills. A great way to meet other parents and children.
During a typical Parent and Toddler class, we have sand free play (time to settle in and chat to other parents), followed our introductory circle time song. This is followed by short structured Lego building, based on a ‘letter’ or a simple age appropriate build. For example, a tower or a bridge. We have sand play with Lego each week (which gets messy!), Lego car ramps and a bubble machine near the end, which the children love. The Parent and Toddler class is suitable for ages 1- 4.5 years, but we often get newborns too.
Teaching the principals of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through LEGO® DUPLO®. Bricks 4 Kidz will reinforce essential pre-school skills with a fun, new approach based on the time-tested popularity of LEGO® bricks! Introduce your preschoolers and toddlers to the fun of learning, building and playing the Bricks 4 Kidz way!
LEGO® based education programmes have proven to be a very effective way of supporting children in early year’s fine and gross motor skills, pre-literacy and numeracy skills, color recognition and cognitive development. LEGO® provides a sensory experience that extends imagination and creativity.
For our pre school workshops, we have many themes that coincide with what children are learning in the classroom. Some of the themes include; “Safari”, “Under the Sea”, “Whats that Sound” and “Our Community”. These themes are specifically designed to meet the Learning Aims and Goals of Aistear.
Some of the goals met are:
• Learn how to observe, collect, and make use of information.
• Become active learners by asking How, What, Why and When.
• Working in groups supports relationship building.
• Provides a range of social interactions example parallel play or cooperative play.
